About Me

1.

My favorite Portland, Maine building is the custom house.

  • Built to replace the Exchange Building, which was destroyed in the great fire of 1866

  • Incorporates elements of the Second Empire and Renaissance Revival styles

  • Constructed of New Hampshire granite with a slate-shingled roof

I hail from the Berkshires of western Massachusetts

  • I was born in the town of North Adams in 1987 and lived in nearby Williamstown

  • My ancestors were Vermont farmers and North Adams newspapermen

  • In 1996 my family and I moved to Cape Cod, where I did most of my “growing up”

  • I returned temporarily to North Adams in 2018 to work with a local brewery

I have a massive soft spot for old cars

  • I have no history of mechanical aptitude

  • The coronavirus pandemic nudged me to get the 1974 BMW 2002 I always wanted

  • My daughter Lena and son Henry will learn stick-shift on this old hulk, much like my dad taught me on his Austin Healey 3000

I love to travel

  • At age 20, I embarked on 5 months of travel through Asia & Oceania

  • I’m an alumnus of NOLS New Zealand

  • I almost ALWAYS prefer to explore my destinations during the local off-season

I have a wonderful little family

  • My wife, Molly and I have had three kids

  • We cherish our daughter Lena and our son, Henry

  • We treasure the memory of our son Elliot, who was born in the spring of 2021 and was with us for 13 days

I left a career in the beer business to pursue my dream

  • In a career spanning eight years, I worked for Shipyard, Baxter and Foundation Brewing companies

  • In 2017, I started booking more weddings and decided to reduce my brewing commitments to a part-time, consultation role

  • In 2018 I went full-time as a wedding photographer

  • In spring 2021, I moved into a beautiful studio in Portland’s old port
